Josef Haydn dedicated two string quartets to his patron, Prince Joseph Frantisek Maximillian Lobkowicz, in 1799, Op.77 No.1 and No.2. Both are called the Lobkowicz Quartets. In 1803, the Prince commissioned Ludwig van Beethoven to write his Symphony #3 (Eroica). In the previous year (1802) Beethoven wrote his Opus 35 Variations and used so many themes from these for his symphony that the variations became known as the Eroica Variations.

Flynn made these photographs at the Lobkowicz Palace at Castle Prague and they function as visual metaphors and echoes of these musical compositions and variations.
